about

from the nashville scene, by D. Patrick Rodgers
Matt Moody, Capture All the Good

As we noted when he revealed his video for "Capture All the Good" a couple of weeks back, local psych-pop mastermind Matt Moody is a prolific individual. "Capture" is one of the four tunes featured on Mr. Moody's brand-new EP of the same name, and his other outfit, By Lightning!, serves as his backing band on this release. Coming to us from By Lighting!'s Been Struck Records, Capture All the Good captures all the feel-good, positive-minded, '60s-inspired psychedelic rock we tend to expect from the lanky, hirsute songster, but with a bit of diverse influence — the soul-funk strut of "Shining Moments," the sleepy country-rock delivery of "Mistaken," and the fuzzed-out grunge of "A Lot Like You." Good stuff, no surprise. Stream all of Capture All the Good above, or download it for $4 at Moody's Bandcamp page.

You saw the video for the title track but now the entire EP is now available - Capture All The Good is four tracks of perfectly balanced indie and country, melancholy and rock, fully entertaining and still emotionally satisfying. It's a lot of things but, mostly, it's a good listen.

Matt Moody's 'Capture All the Good' [Fresh Vid]
Posted by D. Patrick Rodgers on Mon, Sep 17, 2012 at 10:43 AM

If there's one thing the magnificently bearded Matt Moody is excellent at — aside from playing bass and being popular in Spain, that is — it's issuing a steady stream of material. Whether it's with Hands Down Eugene, By Lightning! or just under his own name, Moody is a constant source of lush psych pop. Above you can see Mr. Moody, accompanied by his By Lightning! cohorts, in the video for his tune "Capture All the Good." As that title suggests, it's a good-times, good-vibes bit of sweet grooving, and it was directed by Amy Hobbs. Enjoy.
